What the manufacturer claims
Does ShineMD back up its claims?
- Safety data sheet published by the maker
- No
- Publishes any test data
- Yessource
- Durability claim substantiated
- No
How we checked: Self-assessment, applying the same procedure used for every other brand. We publish our full method, instruments and limitations, and raw readings are published as collected. Our durability claim is not yet substantiated because the study has not reached its first reading interval, so the claim currently rests on internal testing we have not published. No public safety data sheet has been confirmed. Assessed July 29, 2026.
Company-level research on ShineMD — who owns it, how it is sold, and every case where its own published figures disagree — is on the ShineMD brand page.
What we measured
This product is in 2 tests we run ourselves. Readings are published as collected, in full, including the ones that do not favour our own product.
- Coating Durability Study: 18 Months, Measuredstill running
- Does Graphene Actually Do Anything? A Teststill running
What it does well
- Wide levelling window — stays workable long enough that a slow panel does not leave high spots
- Published method and raw readings as they come in, so the durability claim can be checked rather than taken on trust
- Slightly cheaper per ounce than System X Renew at list price, with a far more forgiving application
Where it falls short
- Durability study has not reached its first reading interval yet — the tie narrative on the comparison page is provisional until it does
- The graphene contribution is still unproven — our own test of it is running and may return a null result
- Needs reapplication once or twice a year, unlike a professionally installed coating
Our own product, and the reason this site exists. It is a graphene-infused silica spray coating in a 17 fl oz bottle, designed to be applied by hand without the multi-day preparation a solvent-based professional coating demands.
We publish our own durability figures for it from the same test programme that measures everything else, using the same method and the same panels. The study is running and the first reading interval has not arrived yet, so this profile does not assert a measured ranking. Where a competitor beats it once the numbers exist, that result will be published too.
