Who we are, stated plainly

We manufacture ShineMD. This site is our publication and is not an independent review service. We disclose that on every page where we evaluate a product, and our full disclosure sets out how we obtain products, how we earn money, and what we will not do.

What our content is

Our guides and test results describe what we did, what we measured, and what we observed. We publish our methods so they can be checked and repeated.

What we deliberately do not do is disclaim the accuracy of our own work. Our previous site carried language saying its comparisons were “for illustration and entertainment purposes only” and should not be relied upon for accuracy. We have removed it. If we publish a measurement, we stand behind it, and if we get one wrong we will correct it on the page.

What that does not mean

Detailing involves chemicals, machines and abrasives applied to a valuable object, and results depend on factors we cannot see or control: your paint’s history and thickness, its previous repairs, your water, your climate, your technique and your equipment.

So while we stand behind our testing, we cannot promise you the same outcome on your car, and you accept that work you perform on your own vehicle is at your own risk. Paint correction in particular permanently removes clear coat. Where we advise measuring before polishing, that advice is load-bearing.

Nothing here is professional advice for your specific vehicle. If a job is beyond what you are comfortable risking, engage a professional detailer.

Third-party products and brands

Other companies’ names and trademarks belong to them. Referring to a product does not imply any affiliation with, sponsorship by, or endorsement from its owner, and it does not imply they endorse us. We have no relationship with the brands we test beyond buying their products, except where a page discloses that a product was supplied to us.

Some outbound links earn us a commission. This is disclosed on the pages that contain them. Your price is unaffected, and commission is not an input to any test result.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Shine Master Detailers LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of this site or from work you carry out based on it. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, in which case those exclusions do not apply to you.

Our content

Text, photographs and test data on this site are ours. You are welcome to quote us with attribution and a link. Republishing substantial portions, or reusing our photographs or datasets commercially, requires permission — please just ask.
