ShineMD is our own brand, and this page exists so that the company publishing the database appears in it on the same terms as everyone else.

Background

Shine Master Detailers LLC makes one flagship product, a graphene-infused silica spray coating, plus a small set of accessories — a clay mitt, microfibre towels, an empty professional sprayer. The product is sold direct through a Shopify storefront rather than through installers or big-box retail, which puts it in the consumer spray category regardless of how the chemistry compares to professional coatings.

The founding argument is the one repeated across this site: the professional solvent coatings were excellent and unforgiving, the consumer sprays were easy and short-lived, and nothing in between came with a durability figure that had a method attached. So the company formulated something for the middle of that gap and committed to publishing measurements either way.

Where we fail our own audit

Two criteria, and both are ours to fix rather than to argue with.

We do not publish a public safety data sheet. Every product in this category should have one available from the maker. Adam’s Polishes does this properly and we do not, and there is no version of that fact that reflects well on us.

Our headline durability figure is not substantiated yet. The store states 6 to 12 months per application. Our own 18-month durability study has not reached its first reading interval, which means that figure currently rests on internal testing we have not published. It sits in our tables as unsubstantiated for exactly the same reason a competitor’s does.

What we do publish

Full method, instruments, limitations and raw readings as they are collected, including readings that do not favour us. That is the only thing that distinguishes this from a storefront with a blog attached, and it is worth nothing unless the unflattering results go up too.

We also publish a separate test designed to be able to embarrass us: whether the graphene in our own product contributes anything measurable over an equivalent silica coating. If it returns a null result, that goes here.

How we checked: Self-assessment using the same procedure applied to every other brand in this database. We publish full methods, instruments, limitations and raw readings as collected. We do not currently publish a public safety data sheet, and we do not publish a quantitative ingredient breakdown — only the four named actives. The 60-day money-back guarantee on the store front page is a refund policy, not a durability warranty. Assessed August 10, 2026.
