Adam's Polishes

Broad-line American consumer detailing brand with a large direct-to-consumer catalogue, strong retail presence, and unusually complete published safety and ingredient documentation.

How you buy it
Direct to consumer

Adam’s Polishes is the brand that comes out best in the part of our audit that has nothing to do with performance.

Background

A broad-line American consumer detailing company with a large catalogue spanning washes, polishes, coatings, interior products and tools, sold direct from its own site and through general retail. Its ceramic line runs from CS3 — a three-in-one cleaner, gloss enhancer and protectant — up to consumer-applied ceramic and graphene coatings.

Documentation, which is where they lead

Three things, and nobody else we have audited does all three:

  • They host their own safety data sheet library rather than leaving copies to circulate on reseller sites.
  • They name CS3 on their compliance index.
  • They publish a full ingredient table with CAS numbers.

For a category where the normal state of affairs is a marketing page and nothing else, that is a meaningful difference, and it is the reason Adam’s is worth taking seriously even where a durability figure is short.

Where the claims disagree with each other

The durability wording for CS3 used on its own is not consistent between Adam’s own channels. The product page describes protection lasting “for months”. Adam’s own A+ content on the Amazon listing puts CS3 at 1 to 2 months in a comparison table — the same figure they assign their plain, non-ceramic Detail Spray.

That is not our measurement and we are not adjudicating it. It is worth knowing before you buy, because the shorter of the two figures is the one the brand itself publishes in the place where it is comparing its own products against each other.

The graphene coating is a different story

Everything above concerns CS3. Their consumer-applied Graphene Ceramic Coating is where Adam’s makes the most aggressive claim of any brand in this database, and the good documentation does not extend to backing it up.

The page title and feature bullets say “7+ Years of Protection” and “>10H Hardness”, and the hardness claim is introduced with the word “verified”. No lab is named, no test standard is cited, and there is no acknowledgement that the pencil hardness scale ends at 9H — so “>10H” is not a higher result on that scale, it is a number outside it. “Verified” appears with nothing to verify against.

Their own Common Sense Warning section on the same page then calls the product “a semi-permanent ceramic coating”, which is a fair description and a considerably more modest one than seven-plus years.

What backs the seven-year claim commercially is not a durability warranty. It is a satisfaction guarantee: a refund plus ten per cent, valid for 90 days from purchase, on your first purchase of any one product, one per household. That is a generous returns policy and it is not a promise about year four.

Two things they get right and deserve credit for. Their FAQ disclaims their own marketing gimmick — asked whether the UV-reactive dye indicates durability, they answer plainly that it does not and that a lack of glow does not mean a lack of coating. And they explain graphene’s chemistry accurately rather than overselling it: “Graphene alone will not form a coating. Period. Graphene is a flat non-reactive plane, it will not form a bond with other things.” We make a graphene product, and that is a more honest description of the chemistry than most of the marketing in this category, including some aimed at us.

How to read a short durability figure here

CS3 is marketed both as a standalone coating and as a topper over something more durable. Judged as a standalone coating it places last on durability in our comparison, and Adam’s own number is why. Judged as the thing most people actually use it for — two minutes after a wash, no preparation, no cure time — nothing else in our comparison set competes with it, and it is comfortably the cheapest per ounce.

Where Adam's Polishes’s own figures disagree

These are not our measurements. Each row is a figure the brand publishes about itself, with the page it appeared on and the date we read it. We are not adjudicating which one is correct — the useful observation is that a specification with several published values was asserted rather than measured.

Yes

How we checked: Checked the brand’s own site for a safety data sheet index, an ingredient disclosure, and any published test methodology. Adam’s hosts its own SDS library, names CS3 on its compliance index, and publishes a full ingredient table with CAS numbers — the most complete documentation of any brand we have audited. We found no published test method or dataset supporting the durability figures, and the durability wording varies between their own site and their Amazon A+ content. Assessed July 29, 2026.
