It is a polymer sealant, not a silica coating
This is the finding. There is no SiO2 claim, no ceramic claim and no graphene claim anywhere on the Bead Maker page. The chemistry is described as polymer: surface-migrating molecules that attach to the paint, then cross-link and polymerise into a hydrophobic layer. UV protection is credited to a blend of absorbers and stabilisers.
Bead Maker gets shopped against ceramic sprays constantly, and on the thing most people actually want — water beading after a wash, for two minutes of work — it competes with them perfectly well. But it belongs in the sealant category, and a database that filed it under ceramic sprays would be repeating the same loose use of “ceramic” that makes durability claims in this category impossible to compare.
What they claim
No numeric durability figure. “Long lasting” and “a durable, long-lasting protective barrier” is as specific as it gets. The only hard time figure on the page is a cure time of roughly two hours depending on conditions.
One correction to the record: a two-month durability figure is attributed to P&S in a comparison published by a competing coating brand. We could not find any such claim on P&S’s own site, and we are not going to repeat a competitor’s characterisation of a rival’s durability as though the manufacturer had said it.
A reseller of theirs states the position on guarantees bluntly: no manufacturer warranty beyond shipping damage replacement, and no guarantees for longevity, performance or fitness for a particular purpose. That is unusually plain, and it is roughly the honest position for every product in this category that has not published a test.
