Brand profile

Nexgen

Direct-response consumer brand built around a single silica spray coating, sold mainly through its own site and Amazon with heavy emphasis on ease of application.

How you buy it
Direct to consumer

Nexgen is a single-product, direct-response brand, and its documentation tells two different stories depending on which page you land on.

Background

The company sells one silica spray coating, marketed heavily on how hard it is to get wrong. That claim holds up in use: it is genuinely forgiving, with no cure time and a wide levelling window, which makes it a reasonable first coating for somebody who has never applied one.

Most of the brand’s reach comes from its own site and Amazon rather than retail or installers, and the marketing is closer to direct response than to the technical-catalogue style of the professional brands.

The durability figures do not agree

On the brand’s own pages we found a range spanning “up to a year”, “up to 6 months”, and “several months” — and separately, support guidance that owners in Florida conditions may need to reapply as often as every two weeks.

Two weeks and a year are not two estimates of the same quantity. They are what happens when a durability number is written by marketing in one place and by customer support in another, with no measurement anywhere in between to reconcile them.

SiO2 content

Marketing states 13% SiO2. The safety data sheet gives SiO2 as an upper bound of 14%. Those are consistent with each other — 13 is below 14 — but the sheet does not confirm the marketed figure, it only fails to contradict it. The sheet is also dated 2015, which is old enough that it may not describe the formulation currently shipping.

They do publish a safety data sheet, and that is worth stating plainly because an earlier version of our own research said they did not. That was our error and it is corrected here.

Buy the right size

This matters more than the durability copy. In the 8 oz bottle Nexgen is the most expensive product per ounce in our whole comparison set, at $4.37. In the 16 oz bottle it undercuts our own product. Any statement about Nexgen being cheap or expensive is wrong at one of those two sizes, which is why every price in this database carries the size it buys.

Where Nexgen’s own figures disagree

These are not our measurements. Each row is a figure the brand publishes about itself, with the page it appeared on and the date we read it. We are not adjudicating which one is correct — the useful observation is that a specification with several published values was asserted rather than measured.

How we checked: Checked the brand site and support pages for a safety data sheet, an ingredient breakdown, and any published test method. A safety data sheet does exist — an earlier version of our research said it did not, and that was wrong. The sheet is dated 2015 and states SiO2 as an upper bound rather than the precise figure used in marketing. We found no published test method or dataset behind the durability figures, which appear in several different forms across the brand’s own product and support pages. Assessed July 29, 2026.
