Feynlab publishes the most detailed warranty terms in this database, and reading them is the fastest education available in what a coating warranty actually promises.
Background
FEYNLAB INC, based in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. Their about page describes a start as a private label distributor for other coating brands before going out under their own name, and they now sell to both installers and the public — with the professional coatings gated behind trained and authorised installer access.
They are best known for self-healing chemistry, described as a ceramic polymer matrix that resets once surface temperatures reach roughly 140°F.
No hardness claim, but plenty of unattributed numbers
There is no 9H claim anywhere on their coating pages, which puts them in the more credible group. What they do publish is a set of specific figures with no method attached: a water contact angle of 113 degrees, described as making it one of the most hydrophobic coatings ever produced; film thickness up to three times a standard five-year coating, or nearer four when layered.
A number without a method is still an assertion. But an assertion of 113 degrees is at least falsifiable by anyone with a contact angle meter, which is more than “up to twelve months” offers.
Read the warranty before you pay
Coverage is real: naturally occurring environmental damage such as tree sap or oxidation, gloss retention relative to an uncoated surface, and paint compatibility, across terms from one year for Original Ceramic to seven for Self Heal Plus.
The conditions are where the education is. Your car has to be under three years old — the tightest eligibility rule of any brand here, and it does not appear on the product pages. Registration within 30 days. Annual inspection within a 30-day window, with a $100 fee payable to the applicator. Coverage begins 72 hours after application. Excluded: water spots from mineral deposits, paint defects, stone chips, scratches, collisions, careless maintenance, any non-Feynlab product applied on top, and any vehicle previously coated with another product. Total liability capped at $1,000 or the cost of the product, whichever is less.
We are not presenting that as a criticism. It is more honest than the brands whose terms are unreachable, and every exclusion in it is one a coating genuinely cannot control. It is simply a much narrower promise than “seven-year warranty” conveys.
One place the copy oversells the contract
The warranty terms say coverage is valid only for the lifetime of your ownership and does not transfer when the vehicle is sold. The Self Heal Plus page says the documentation provides transferable value and a verifiable record throughout the ownership of the vehicle.
Read strictly, both can be true — the CarFax record transfers, the warranty does not. But the product page’s phrasing invites exactly the opposite inference from the binding document, and the binding document is the one that decides.
