How we checked: Read the Mohs EVO product page. Durability is published as a Real World Lifespan specification with both time and distance for one and two layers. Despite the Mohs name, the page publishes no hardness figure. Gyeon states the Q2 line has been tested by Swiss SGS and Korean KTR but publishes no report or method from either. Brand hosts its own SDS library. Sold through certified detailers and as consumer bottles. Assessed August 11, 2026.

Company-level research on Gyeon — who owns it, how it is sold, and every case where its own published figures disagree — is on the Gyeon brand page.

What we measured

Nothing. This product is not in any of our test datasets, so we have no measurements of our own to report on it.

What it does well

  • Publishes durability with both months and kilometres
  • No hardness claim despite the Mohs name — unusually restrained
  • Brand hosts SDS library

Where it falls short

  • Durability still unsubstantiated by a published dataset
  • Named SGS/KTR testing without published reports
  • EVO reformulation — older Mohs data does not transfer

Q² Mohs EVO is Gyeon’s professional-leaning silica coating in the current EVO generation. The product page states real-world lifespan of up to 36 months / 40,000 km for one layer and 48 months / 50,000 km for two.

The more interesting finding is what is missing. The coating is named after the Mohs hardness scale and the page carries no hardness figure at all — no 9H, no pencil test, nothing. Three brands in this database claim hardness beyond the top of the pencil scale. The brand that named a product after hardness declined to invent a number.

Gyeon says the Q² line has been thoroughly tested by Swiss SGS and the Korean KTR institute. Naming the labs is better than silence; publishing no report or method still leaves the claim uncheckable. Older non-EVO Mohs reviews do not describe the bottle currently shipping. SDS documents are available from Gyeon’s own library.
